“I’d be a bad guy if I didn’t tell you this—industry changes are coming in 2025. Refrigerants are switching again, and you only have a limited time before all the old inventory is gone.”
Here’s what you need to know:

Older units (20+ years) likely use R22, which is no longer manufactured.

For the past decade, most systems ran on R410A, which will still be serviceable for many years.

All new equipment sold after 2025 will use the new A2L refrigerants: R454 or R32.

Expect an equipment price increase of 15–20% with this change.
💡 Tip from Eric: If you have multiple older rooftop units, consider replacing them all at once. You’ll save on crane costs (≈$1000 per lift), labour, and avoid upcoming price increases. One of our plaza clients with three 20-30 year old units saved thousands by doing this.
